Trama
Cleve Marshall, assistant to the district attorney Miles Scott, one evening, he is still in his office, arrives Thelma Jordon, a charming young woman who had a date with Scott, now gone. The woman tells him a story about criminals and burglars, while Cleve continues to drink and get drunk. The man sees in Thelma a person who listens to him, they go to a club and the two end up having a clandestine relationship. Thelma is a mysterious woman and Cleve can't help but wonder if she's hiding something. The woman lives with her rich old aunt, who she takes care of by assisting her. When she is found dead in her villa shot, Thelma instead of calling the police calls Cleve, who helps her cover up the evidence that could incriminate her, but the woman, following the official investigation, is seen as first suspected of the crime, being the universal heir of her aunt's wealthy assets.
